Does the 1099 Miscellaneous form printed in lower case letters meet the requirements of the IRS?

0 votes

I purchased your W2 Mate program to provide 1099 forms to my clients and the IRS. I have a couple of questions.

1. Does the 1099 Miscellaneous form printed by your program in lower case letters "Copy B" meet the requirements of the IRS in providing the information to my clients?

2. How do I print and mail to the IRS the 1096 form and 1099 Miscellaneous Copy A for the IRS? Will they take forms printed in lower case?

The answer to both your questions is YES. Sending 1099 Copy B to recipients or 1099 Copy A to the IRS in lower case is acceptable. You can check out the IRS 1099 General Rules, if you still want to double check. You can also call the IRS information returns department at 1-866-455-7438
