Thank you for taking the time to ask this question and explain your situation.
Yes, you can use our W2 Mate 2020 software (and above) to import data from QuickBooks and then prepare 1099-NEC forms for mailing to recipients or filing with the IRS. What our software does, is it extracts the vendor information from QuickBooks (such as name, SSN \ EIN and so on) along with the amounts and then allows you to direct this data to any form you want including 1099-NEC. This way you can prepare 1099-NEC forms for some of your recipients (when you report none-employee-compensation) and prepare 1099-MISC for others (when you want to report Rents for example).
For electronic filing, our software creates the ASCII, fixed-width flat text file that that you can upload to the IRS via Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE) system. You can access this system by going to fire.irs.gov.
If you do not want to import your data from QuickBooks, you can simply manually type inside our software.

This answer is applicable not only to QuickBooks 2017, it also applies to older versions such as 2016, 2015, 2014 and before. If you have a newer version of QuickBooks such as 2021, you should also be able to import your data in case you want to do something other than printing the forms such as filing with the state or creating PDF 1099-NEC returns.
