Which Copy is 1099 Copy A?

0 votes

Hello,

All the forms say to file copy A with to the IRS.  I don’t see anything called copy A.  Do you mean copy 1?  Also is this supposed to be sent with the 1096?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Darryl,

1099 Copy A is the copy you send to the IRS (Internal Revenue Service). And yes this is the copy you need to send with form 1096. So for example if you had 4 independent contractors, then you need to send 4 1099-MISC Copy A forms to the IRS along with 1 form 1096 that summarizes the information in those 4 forms.

You can use our 1099 software to print both the copies you send to the government and the ones you send to the recipient. For 1099 Copy A, you can use the software to print on the pre-printed red form and for all the other copies you can print them on regular white paper.
